Deadline Approaching To File Candidacy For School Board
SYRACUSE — The two at-large seats on the Wawasee Community School Corp. Board of Trustees are up for election in November. The seats are currently held by Mike Wilson and Don Bokhart.
Residents within any of the school corporation’s three districts, over the age of 18, are eligible to seek a position on the school board. The deadline for filing with the Kosciusko County Clerk’s Office is noon Friday, Aug. 26.
Districts within the school corporation are: District 1 — Tippecanoe Township; District 2 — Turkey Creek Township; and District 3 — Van Buren and Jefferson 3.
Wilson, from District 1, has filed his candidacy, according to information received. Wilson had served as a District 1 representative from 2006-2010 and was appointed to the at-large seat in late 2010 to fill the vacancy due to the death of Dallas Winchester. He was elected to that seat in 2012.
Bokhart, from District 2, has filed his candidacy. He was appointed to the board July 12. Bokhart, a former teacher and assistant principal, is filling the vacancy left with the resignation of George Gilbert.
