She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, and seven siblings.
Naomi was born on January 30, 1919, in New Market, Va., to Frank and Nora Roller. She graduated from Broadway High School, Broadway, Va., in 1927. She married Charles Luther Baldwin on December 29, 1940. She and her husband worked as Church of the Brethren missionaries in Nigeria 1953-1962. Naomi loved her Lord Jesus, and as a result was involved in activities in the Church throughout her lifetime; as a Sunday School teacher, church song leader, women’s group leader and deaconess. Naomi’s hospitality and Virginia cooking were well-known among everyone who knew her. She used her cooking skills to great effect as pie baker at Manchester College in the ‘60s and as head cook at Camp Logan in Syracuse, from 1968-1983.
Naomi was an accomplished piano, autoharp, and guitar player. She was also a singer from her youth and frequently shared her talent with church groups, friends and family.
A reception in memory of Naomi is scheduled for 3-4:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28. It will be held in the “fellowship café”, just inside the main entrance of Grace Village, 337 Grace Village Dr, Winona Lake, Indiana. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Naomi’s life. There will be no service – just a time for family and friends to come and go as they please and to share memories on a life well-lived.
