Tourist Killed, Another Injured After Being Mauled By Tigers In Beijing Wildlife Park
BEIJING, CHINA — A tourist was killed and another injured after they were mauled by tigers while on a safari tour at a wildlife park in Beijing over the weekend.
Surveillance video shot Saturday afternoon shows a woman getting out of a white sedan after it stops in the tiger enclosure.
As she walks to the driver’s side door and opens it, a tiger suddenly attacks her from behind and drags her off.
The male driver of the sedan immediately chases after them and then a female passenger also exits the vehicle to join the rescue attempt.
Meanwhile, a Jeep belonging to the park speeds toward the woman to try to save her.
Unfortunately, the second woman was killed by another tiger.
The zoo has now closed to the public as the investigations continues.
Badaling Wildlife Park is one of the largest zoos of its kind in China.
The park is well-known for rearing large groups of dangerous predatory animals that roam wide open areas through which tourists can drive their own cars on safari-style tours.
According to zoo rules, all tourists must keep their car doors locked and windows fully closed while in the park.
