UPDATE: Warsaw Man Jailed For Child Solicitation
WARSAW — Schaefer has informed InkFree News that his Class D felony has been reduced to a class A misdemeanor.
———————————————————————————————WARSAW — Warsaw man is behind bars today following the discovery of illicit Facebook and cell phone messages between he and a minor female.
According to North Webster Police Department Officer Candace Smythe, on June 30, she was contacted by the father of the girl who had discovered what he described as “disturbing sexual conversations” between his daughter, who according to the charge would be 14 years old or younger, and Michael Louis Schaefer, 18, of 38 EMS B51A Ln., Warsaw.
According to the girl’s father, he discovered Schaefer and his daughter had been having sexual conversations through Facebook since September 2012. Following the discovery of the messages, the girl’s father also located text messages from Schaefer on his daughter’s cell phone in which Schaefer asked the girl if she would have sex with him.
Upon questioning Schaefer, he advised he knew the girl and that she was 14 years old or younger. In addition, Schaefer admitted he believed the girl wanted to be his girlfriend and that he was aware that the legal age for sexual intercourse is 16 years old.
Schaefer is currently being held in the Kosciusko County Jail for a Class D felony charge of child solicitation. His bond has been set at $2,000.
