Sixth Annual Aqua Mile A Success
WARSAW — As part of the Northern Indiana Lakes Festival, the Warsaw Aqua Mile Open Water Swim took place this past Saturday, June 11th. Concluding this year’s event, Race Director, Troy Turley, presents to Mike McCulloch the Winning Trophy – a pineapple.
Various swimmers joined locals in the sixth annual one-mile swim in Center Lake. Organizers thanked the volunteers and sponsors behind the event. This year’s sponsors were Midwest Poultry Services, K21, Wildman Business Group, Grossnickle Eye Center, The Lake House, Martin’s, Lake City Bank, Warsaw Police/Fire Rescue Dive Team, Culligan, John Kimpel and Associates, The Union Tool Corporation, Lakes Festival and Parkview YMCA.
Local winners are Jessica Indyk and Thaddeous Borchers. Jessica won the women’s swimsuit division and Thaddeous won the men’s wetsuit division for the fifth time. Terri Steinhubel, Porter, won the women’s wetsuit division. Michael McCulloch (two time overall winner and course record holder) of Westfield won the men’s swimsuit division. Notable mentions are locals Ethan Cook and Evan Borchers. Ethan finished 3rd and Evan finished 4th in the men’s swimsuit division.
All proceeds go toward the beautification of Warsaw’s Center Lake and surrounding watershed.
