Doris I. Risser, 93, Wakarusa, died 9:05 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor. She was born May 15, 1923, in Elkhart County to Ernest and Augusta (Nusbaum) Hirseman. She married Mearl E. Risser on July 3, 1948, in Elkhart and he died Jan. 24, 2002.

Surviving are her three nieces and two nephews: Rita (Don) Berger, Wakarusa; Ernest L. (Karen) Pletcher, Jr., Goshen; Marianne (Ed) Neufeld, Wakarusa; Barbara J. (Loren) Bontrager, Nappanee; Brian Pletcher, New Paris. Preceding her in death are her parents; husband: Mearl E. Risser; and sisters: Maxine Bleile; Carroll Pletcher; Mariabelle Hirseman; and Devere Hirseman.

Doris was a secretary at CTS in Elkhart. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and taking Sunday afternoon drives with Mearl. She was a meticulous cleaner and her pies were second to none.

There will be a private family service and burial.
