Harold Dane Waldeck
Harold Dane Waldeck, 81, Larwill, died Wednesday morning, June 8, 2016, at his home.
He was born Feb. 11, 1935, in Lagrange, a son of A. Harold and Goldie Mae (Anspaugh) Waldeck. A lifelong resident of Whitley County, he graduated from Larwill High School.
On Nov. 29, 1954, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged Nov. 28, 1962.
On Dec. 27, 1961 he was united in marriage to Nancy J. Miller. They always made their home in Richland Township, moving to their home on Old Trail Road in 1962. Mrs. Waldeck died July 24, 2004.
Dane owned and operated an excavating company for many years.
He was a member of Due Guard Lodge #278 Free and Accepted Masons.
Surviving relatives include two daughters: Shirley Webster, Warsaw; and Linda Littlefield, Tallahassee, Fla.; two sons: Stephen Waldeck, Warsaw; and Randy (Susan) Waldeck, Columbia City; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister: Betty Lou Mogensen; and a granddaughter.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 13, at Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, June 12, with a Masonic service at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
The burial will be at Eberhard Cemetery with military honors presented by Whitley County Korean War Veterans Honor Guard.
