Man’s Body Found Floating In Elkhart River

A body has been found in Elkhart River
BENTON TOWNSHIP — Authorities are investigating after a man’s body was found floating in the Elkhart River.
Indiana Conservation Officers are at the scene, along with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department and Benton Township Fire Department. The body was found around 2 p.m., about a quarter-mile west of the U.S. 33 bridge over the Elkhart River.
The body was located in the river in a rural area along a farm field near Benton Elementary School south of C.R. 44 and east of C.R. 31.
There was no immediate information about the circumstances that led to the man’s death.
“It is very early in the investigation. I won’t be able to provide information on this at this time,” Elkhart County Sheriff’s spokesman Capt. Jim Bradberry said.
The Elkhart County Coroner’s Office arrived at the scene around 3:50 p.m. Thursday, June 2, to continue the investigation.
