Chavez Suffers Abrasions In Accident
NEW PARIS — Carlos E. Lozano Chavez, 24, Warsaw, suffered abrasions to the face and right leg after his motorcycle collided with a trailer being towed by a truck this morning, May 31. The accident was at 9:54 a.m. at SR 15 and CR 50, south of New Paris.
Chavez, who was operating a 2007 Suzuki GSX1100 motorcycle, was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Officers with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department report Kristopher S. Tuttle, 54, Cromwell, was southbound on SR 15 in a 2013 Ford F-350 truck approaching the intersection with CR 50. Chavez was also southbound. Police report a white delivery truck was between Chavez’s motorcycle and Tuttle’s vehicle. Chavez began to pass the delivery truck, as Tuttle was beginning to turn left onto CR 50.
Chavez turned the motorcycle onto its side in attempt to avoid the truck, but it slid under a trailer being towed by Tuttle’s vehicle.
Chavez was cited for no motorcycle endorsement and a learner permit violation.
