Reservations Due Soon For Quilt Gardens Bus Tour
NAPPANEE — The Nappanee Home and Garden Club is sponsoring a Quilt Garden Day Adventure bus tour of Elkhart County’s quilt gardens.
Elkhart County is home to one of the top 100 bus tours in the U.S. This major event is promoted by the Elkhart County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.
The day begins at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, July 16, at the Nappanee Welcome Center, 302 W. Market St., Nappanee, with coffee and rolls, a preview of the first garden, Whirligigs and an opportunity to view quilt panels of the several gardens that have been planted by the volunteer Nappanee Center committee. Participants will also be able to check out the wonderful displays in the Heritage Museum.
Upon boarding a Cardinal Bus charter, visitors will travel in comfort throughout the day as they visit many of the gardens, enjoy lunch at the Wood & Gage and delight in interesting stops that offer unique shopping opportunities.
The trip cost is $40 per person and includes bus fare, driver tip, lunch and a complimentary coffee and roll to start the morning.
Contact Sue Conrad, (941) 661-6159, for more information. Bus capacity is 55 people, so reservations are needed soon.
This year marks Indiana’s bicentennial and the 19 flower patterns on this year’s 2016 Quilt Garden tour are planted in historic patterns in honor and recognition of the Hoosier State’s celebration. An additional 21 hand-painted quilt art murals are also featured throughout the Heritage Trail journey.
The tour is in its ninth full year of drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors to Elkhart County to view the spectacular gardens that are annually planted and evolve into extraordinary designs that capture the hearts of gardeners, quilters, photographers and the likes of people who just enjoy unique travel sites.
