Ivy Tech to Host Healthcare Camp For Area Schools
WARSAW — Ivy Tech Community College will hold an experiential summer camp targeted towards middle school students who are interested in exploring various occupations of the healthcare field.
Warsaw, Wawasee, Whitko, Whitley County Consolidated and Tippecanoe Valley school districts are working with Ivy Tech’s health division to help develop a Health Care Occupations summer camp. The Kosciusko County Economic Development Corporation, National Area Health Education Center and Grace College are also a part of the camp’s development.
“This is a fun camp designed to encourage students to build solid educational goals by learning about health careers with meaningful and engaging hands on activities,” said Barbara MacMillan, Dean of Health Sciences.
Thirty-two campers will spend three days (May 31-June 2) at the Warsaw campus, where they’ll participate in host of hands-on activities to help introduce the concepts behind different healthcare professions such as nursing, respiratory care, pharmacy and physical therapy, among others.
The event runs from 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants will receive lunch, a scrub top and a certificate of attendance.
