Local Torchbearer Announcement Delayed
KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — The Kosciusko County Bicentennial Commission has announced the state’s official release of Bicentennial torchbearers has been delayed.
Those who have been selected to be a torchbearer will be notified through a letter from Governor Mike Pence by the end of May and the official public release of names by the state is scheduled for June 17.
The Bicentennial Torch Relay will come through Kosciusko County Thursday morning, Sept. 29. For those who are interested in being involved in the torch relay event, exchange supervisors and celebration organizers are needed. Exchange supervisors will oversee a specific torchbearer exchange and will need to attend an informational meeting this summer and be available for two hours Sept. 29.
Celebration organizers will need to attend at least one meeting and be available for setup and tear down of the event. The entire event will be over by 1 p.m. that day.
Service clubs and other groups are encouraged to be involved. To volunteer, contact the local bicentennial committee through email at [email protected] or the Facebook page.
