Warsaw Sports Wrap: May 21
Baseball
The Warsaw baseball team held its annual Tiger Tourney Saturday morning.
The Tigers started their day by playing No. 6 Penn, a team they will see next week in the sectional, and fell 10-3. Jordan Steffensmeier had two hits for the Tigers while Jordan Jones took the loss on the mound. Warsaw had seven hits and four errors while Penn had 10 hits and just one error.
In the second game of the day the Tigers fell 5-4 to DeKalb. Dekalb used seven hits to score it runs and committed just one error. Warsaw had nine hits and three errors. Isaac Lenon took the loss for the Orange and Black while Alex Miller, Justin Kerchner and Jared Howley all had a pair of hits each.
Softball
The Lady Tigers took on Manchester Saturday afternoon and just didn’t have enough to hang with the Squires. Manchester won 5-1 behind a nine-hit effort.
Warsaw was limited to just two hits, one each from Sarah Shoemaker and Abigail Glass.
Manchester was led offensively by Katelyn Andritsch’s 2-4 day which included a pair of RBIs.
Warsaw closes the season with a 6-19 record. The Lady Tigers host Northridge in the sectional semifinal next Wednesday.
