Wawasee Sports Wrap: May 18
Softball
The Wawasee softball team wrapped up its impressive run through the Northern Lakes Conference slate with a 4-1 win over Concord.
Amber Lemberg pitched six innings for the Warriors and recorded three strikeouts. Meghan Fretz pitched one inning and struck out two.
Offensively, Madie Wilson, Allissa Flores and Fretz each had two hits a piece. Fretz also had two RBIs. Danielle Gunkel and Flores each recorded an RBI as well.
Wawasee (22-4, 13-1) will travel to Bremen Friday night.
Wawasee’s JV won 8-5.
Baseball
A tough NLC season came to a close for Wawasee Wednesday night. The Warriors dropped their finale 13-7 to the visiting Concord Minutemen.
Wawasee watched as a 3-1 lead slipped away as Concord tacked eight on the board in the fourth inning. Things never got much better from there.
Gavin Barker and Rieder Hunley each had two hits and an RBI for the home team. Hunley took the loss on the mound for the Warriors.
Wawasee (6-18-1, 1-13) will continue a suspended game against NorthWood Thursday night.
