Fort Wayne Among Top 30 For Summer Jobs
FORT WAYNE — With summer just around the corner, many teens’ and young adults’ focus will turn from school work to summer work.
In a recent study by WalletHub, Fort Wayne, not far from the Kosciusko County area, ranked number 30 out of 150 cities nationwide for best places to find summer work.
To compile this list, researchers at Wallet Hub first looked at several criteria, including labor force participation for the 16-24 age range, unemployment rate among those age 16-24, summer job availability per capita, internship listings per capita, median income for part-time workers, poverty percentage of those age 16-24 and median rent for a one-bedroom property.
Fort Wayne came in as having the fourth lowest median rent for a one-bedroom property.
One other Indiana city was included in the study, Indianapolis, coming in at number 44. The highest ranking city was Washington, D.C. while the lowest was Columbus, Ga.
