Bell Memorial Public Library programs for May
The following are Bell Memorial Public Library’s programs for May. Starting on May 29, the library will be closed on Sundays until Sep. 4.
Tea Cup Bird Feeder
For the month of May, the library will be making a tea cup bird feeder for gardens. Made from tea cups and copper pipe, they are simple to make. Cost for this program will be $5 or $3 if participants bring your own teacup and saucer. Time & date is Thursday, May 26 at 6:00 p.m. and participants must sign up. This program is for adults and teens only.
Friends of the Library Book Sale
Friends of the Library Book Sale at Bell Library. Friday and Saturday, May 13 and 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. If residents have any books they would like to donate for the sale or if they would like to volunteer to help with the sale contact Stephen Boggs at (574) 353-7234.
Summer Reading Program for Kids
The library is getting ready for their Summer Reading Program. Sign-up for the program begins Monday, May 30 and the first day to turn in recorded reading will be Monday, June 6. For kids there will be Movie Mondays. Kids and families can come to the library and watch a family movie. Every Wednesday there will be a kid’s craft and the library will have Fitness Fridays with Hoola Hoops, jump ropes, Yoga and much more. Also, Professor Steve and Ronald McDonald will be visiting the library. All kids programs will be held at 1:00 p.m.
Teen Summer Reading Program
Bell Library’s Teen Summer Reading Program. Sign up starts Monday, May 30. First day to turn in pages read will be Monday, June 6. The library will have some great prizes and programs planned for the teens. For June there will be Water Color Cups, Subway Art and a Lighted Death Star. For July teens can design their own t-shirt and make a personalized Butterfly Shadowbox. Cost for each teen craft program is $2 and participants must sign up. The library will also have our regular teen programs; Anime Movie Night held the third Friday of the month from 5 to 8 p.m. and Teen Gaming Night held the last Friday of the month from 5 to 8 p.m. Both programs are for teens 13 and up only.
PLEASE NOTE: Any Tippecanoe Valley student can apply for a student card. This entitles students to check out books at Bell Library. A library card is needed to check out books and turn in recorded reading for prizes but students don’t need a library card to attend the programs.
Bombs Away Coming to Bell Library
Matt Hurd, owner of Bombs Away LLC Bryan, Ohio will be at Bell Library Saturday, July 9 at 1 p.m.
Started in 2000, Matt specializes in bomb replicas, grenades and military items for museums, aircraft owners, businesses, collectors and has even made bomb replicas for Rihanna. With a patented process, he reproduces tough, highly detailed, accurate full-scale replicas. Matt Hurd also attends air shows around the country portraying a bomber crewman for the World War II B-17 Bomber. He has also flown the B-17 Bomber to some of the air shows. This program is open to all ages. Participants do not need to sign up for this program.
Akron Area Arts League Painting Class
For the month of July, the Akron Area Arts League will be hosting an art program for kids ages 9 and up. This program runs Monday through Thursday July 11-14 from 9 a.m. to noon. Cost for this program is $25 and includes all materials. Class size is limited to 20 and participants must sign up.
