Glory Susanne Kern
Glory Susanne Kern, 74, Nappanee, formerly of Goshen, died 12:46 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2016, at IU Health Goshen Hospital.
She was born in Elkhart on Nov. 27, 1941, to Frank Sprague Jr. and Martha Ruth (LeCount) Sprague. She lived most of her early life in Ligonier and was a graduate of Ligonier High School. She married “Tom” Kern of Syracuse on Aug. 1, 1959 and he preceded her in death.
She loved the Lord and won several to Him. She was a Sunday School teacher, nursery worker, prayer chain director, church librarian, choir member and enjoyed serving the Lord. She was a member of and attended First Assembly of God, Goshen. Glory held a variety of jobs, the highlight being church secretary at First Assembly of God for six years. She retired Sept. 1, 2005.
She was caregiver to her husband for several years and also enjoyed many activities: crocheting, reading, crafts, hummingbirds, to name a few and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed e-mailing and being on facebook with many family, friends and classmates.
Glory is survived by her son: Paul Kern; daughter-in-law: Jeni; two grandchildren: Elizabeth Kern; Scott Kern, all of Wakarusa; two sisters: Becky Owen, Kendallville; Cecelia (Lynn) Nodine, Albion; two brothers: Bill (Pat) Sprague; Tom Sprague, both of Ligonier. She is preceded in death by her father and husband.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2016, and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. service Tuesday, May 10, 2016, all at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart Funeral Home, Wakarusa. Rev. Jason Kincaid will officiate and burial will follow at Syracuse Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Assembly of God or to the Faith Mission, Elkhart.
