High Afternoon Voter Turnout
WARSAW — The afternoon of Tuesday, May 3, saw an unusual number of people attending the polls to cast their vote. The Center Lake pavilion polling center had counted 420 votes at 2:30 p.m. as more people arrived.
“We’ve been steady today, we’ve had a good flow,” commented Jack Bumgardner, voting inspector for the Center Lake pavilion location.
Center Lake isn’t the only polling location that has seen an unusual influx of voters this primary. Even locations with a smaller usual attendance have seen greater attendance. The City Hall polling location had counted 116 votes by 3 p.m. “We’ve had at least 50 percent more than usual. In 2012, we were at about 80 (votes) for the whole day,” commented Jack Volkers, the voting inspector for City Hall.
Polling locations throughout the Warsaw area are seeing a voter turnout that can only be described as unusual.
“It’s been a good day. Last election we only had 32 people for the whole day and today we’ve had 140,” said Bill Huffer, voting inspector for the St. Anne Episcopal Church voting location, when questioned about their numbers.
This is just a small percentage of the overall polling locations throughout the Warsaw area that are still open for voting. Those still wishing to vote have until 6 p.m. today. For a list of precincts and polling locations, click here.
