WARSAW — The Astound Performance Company dancers from Astound Dance Academy recently attended the sold-out Nexstar Dance Competition in Fort Wayne.
Astound’s Performance Company brought 21 dancers and 24 dance routines to the competition and received high honors from the judges throughout the weekend of over 600 dance routines. 20 out of 24 of the dances APC competed in won Overall High Score awards and first place in their category.
Highlights from the competition include winning two judge’s choice awards, having three soloist dancers place in the top five overall scores with over 30 dancers in their divisions and sweeping an entire category with all four of their Intermediate Teen group dances placing in the top five scores of their category.
Another highlight for the APC was having a group of their teen dancers take first place overall in their division with their dance winning a Golden Ticket Award, an award for Choreographic Excellence for choreographer/instructor Alexandra Jackson, and winning Regional Champions with the highest score of all of the routines in their age group for the entire weekend.
The above honors are a huge accomplishment and Astound Dance Academy is extremely proud of all of the prestigious awards their dancers received throughout the weekend. Astound Dance Academy director, Alexandra Jackson says, “Astound is proud to offer a top-notch program for dancers to excel at whatever level they wish to achieve. From the tiniest dancer stepping foot into the dance room for the first time, to the experienced dancer taking the stage at their first dance competition, Astound takes pride in all of their dancers and is excited to continue offering their expertise to all dancers in the area.”
