Walter ‘Jack’ Davis
Walter “Jack” Davis, 57, Nappanee, died at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at South Bend Memorial Hospital of natural causes. He had been a patient there since Sunday. He was born Jan. 6, 1959, in Boaz, Ala. to Bobby Jack and Ruth (Martin) Davis. Jack was a graduate of Crossville High School in Crossville, Ala. He retired from the Army National Guard as a Sgt. E5 after serving 20 years.
Mr. Davis moved to Nappanee in 2003. He had worked at Utilimaster in Wakarusa as a quality inspector. Jack’s first love was spending time with his son. He also was a huge Alabama football fan and enjoyed playing cornhole.
Mr. Davis is survived by his son: Jackson Davis (mother: Shari Upchurch), North Webster; stepdaughters: Ashley Booker, Mishawaka; Whitney Dunn, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; grandson: Kadin Jones, Mishawaka; grandaughter: Rayah Nolen, Mishawaka; father: Bobby Jack Davis, Geraldine, Ala.; mother: Ruth Davis, LaGrange, Ga.; sister: Paula (Chuck) Hawkins, LaGrange, Ga.; Tina (Dan) O’Donnell, Albertville, Ala.; brother: Greg (Jennifer) Davis, Boaz, Ala.; brother-in-law: Tommy Sims, Albertville, Ala.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister: Jane Sims.
Family and friends may call from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at Thompson-Lengacher and Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Funeral services will begin at 4 p.m. Rev. James Jacobson, Calvary Baptist Church will officiate. Military services will follow. There will be graveside services, followed by Military services at 3 p.m. Monday, May 2, in Crossville, Ala. at Freeman Methodist Church Cemetery.
