GOSHEN — Carol Smith, 52, New Paris, and a passenger in another vehicle, were transported to IU Health, Goshen, following a two-vehicle accident at 7:26 a.m. Tuesday, April 26. The accident occurred at CR 17 and CR 38, west of Goshen city limits.

Smith complained of pain to the left arm and right leg. Also transported to IU Health was Gain Rusel, 16, who complained of head and chest pain.

Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department reports Andrew Kaethler, 48, Elkhart, was traveling southbound on CR 17 and turned left onto CR 38, failing to yield the right of way to Smith’s northbound vehicle. Smith was unable to avoid hitting the Kaethler vehicle.

Kaethler has not been cited at this time as the crash is still under investigation.
