Breaking It Up, Breaking It Down: A Forum On Bernie Sanders’ Economic Platform
SOUTH BEND — Bernie Sanders has a bold vision for America’s economic future, but what does that really mean? South Bend area voters have the chance to learn more at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, during “Breaking it Up, Breaking It Down: A Forum on the Need for a Bernie Sanders Economic Platform.”
This community conversation at UAW #5 Hall, 1426 S. Main St. in South Bend, kicks off with Lynn Coleman, Democratic candidate for Indiana’s 2nd Congressional District, connecting the dots on how national and international policy decisions impact our economy at the local level. He’ll introduce South Bend-based economists Amitava Dutt and Marty Wolfson as they explore the Wall Street question, banking and related financial issues to help all voters better understand what’s at stake.
Dutt teaches at the University of Notre Dame and is one of 170 economists around the world to sign a January letter, linked here, in support of Sanders’ comprehensive financial reforms. Wolfson, a retired Notre Dame professor and former Federal Reserve Board economist, joins him in this community forum designed to answer real-life questions. Come see why this issue matters so much, and learn why reform is both possible and necessary. The event is free and open to the public.
