Wright Pleads Guilty In Kidnapping, Rape, Robbery Case
COLUMBIA CITY — Henry Wright Jr., 25, pleaded guilty in the Whitley Circuit Court to charged counts of rape, kidnapping and robbery stemming from events, which occurred in Columbia City and South Whitley on Dec. 15, 2015, according to the Whitley County Prosecutor’s Office. Wright also acknowledged being a habitual felony offender.
Wright is scheduled to be sentenced on May 16. His potential sentence is 80 years of incarceration.
“This is a good resolution to this case,” said Whitley County Prosecuting Attorney Matthew J. Rentschler. “We are very pleased for the victim and her family that we were able to achieve this outcome.”
Wright was one of three men arrested in connection with the kidnapping, robbery and raping of a woman. The men allegedly kidnapped the woman in South Whitley. The three men later attempted to utilize her ATM card at STAR Financial Bank in Columbia City before being found that evening in Fort Wayne.
Also charged at that time was Camara J. Benson, 21, charged with kidnapping, a level 2 felony, and robbery, a level 3 felony; and Dennis L. Thomas, 43, charged with aiding in kidnapping, a level 2 felony.
