Regional Medical Center named “2015 Hospital of the Year” by Indiana Lions Eye Bank
FORT WAYNE — Parkview Regional Medical Center has been recognized as the “2015 Hospital of the Year” by the Indiana Lions Eye Bank for showcasing exemplary leadership and a commitment to both the donor program and the communities within the health system.
Parkview Regional Medical Center’s donor program ensures every individual is presented with the opportunity to become a donor, while also maintaining the dignity of donors and their families.
“This award truly belongs to the patient care team at Parkview Regional Medical Center,” said Michael GeRue, chief operating officer, Parkview Heart Institute. “Their dedication to the health system’s donor program and compassion for grieving families during a very difficult time has given others the opportunity for restored vision. We couldn’t be more proud of their excellent care and compassion.”
In 2015, Parkview Regional Medical Center was responsible for making a difference in the lives of nearly 250 individuals through the gift of sight. Parkview Health hospitals throughout Indiana have been directly responsible for nearly 1,380 transplants in the last six years.
“The keys to Parkview’s success have been the dedication from their leadership and donor council, and nurses in the hospital who understand the impact they have in the lives of others and how donation can offer something positive to families who have suffered a loss,” said Christen Batt, director of donor services for the Indiana Lions Eye Bank. “We are honored to present this award to Parkview Regional Medical Center for their continued improvement, the dedication to their families and commitment to helping restore vision through corneal transplantation.”
This is the first year Parkview Regional Medical Center has received this award from the Indiana Lions Eye Bank.
