WARSAW — The 18th annual “A Taste of Agriculture in Kosciusko County: A Family Affair” was at the Kosciusko Fairgrounds from 5-7:30 p.m. last evening, Tuesday, April 12, with plenty of agriculture booths, food samples and prizes.
As people entered the fairgrounds, their first stop was at the Beaver Dam Stand Welcome Center to receive and register for more than 100 door prizes. Each person received a bag that had a prize in it. Connie Kehoe, Warsaw, who has attended the “Taste of Ag” for years, said the prizes are all different, “One year I won two fish fry tickets. This year I got a cinnamon bun.” T-shirts could be won with a spin of the “Ag Wheel of Knowledge.”
There were more than 20 booths representing agriculture: Bleacher’s Sugar Bush with samplings of everything maple, hogs, Creighton Brothers with chickens and chicks, KC Recycling showing people how to build composting units, Beekeepers telling the importance of bees to the environment and giving free samples of honey, among many more.
Food samples were made available such as; ice cream, cheese, various pork products, duck, popcorn, eggs, goat cheese, salsa and chips. Taco seasoned beef was offered by the Kosciusko County Cattleman’s Association.
Children were not forgotten at the “Taste of Ag” event. There was a scavenger hunt for the kids, a coloring contest and they were allowed to pet the animals.
