Richard R. Pelletier
Richard R. “Dick” Pelletier, 70, of Syracuse, passed away at 11:39 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2016, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne. He was born on Nov. 2, 1945 in Nashua, N.H. to Robert Sylvio and Theresa Cecile (Deboisbriand) Pelletier.
He graduated in 1963 from Nashua High School, in 1975 from Lowell Technological Institute in Lowell, Mass., and was a United States Army veteran. On Aug. 17, 1968 in Nashua, N.H. he married Rachel E.B. Lebrun who survives and they moved to Syracuse in 1989 from Richmond, Va. He previously worked at Brockway Plastics in Nashua, N.H. and Richmond, Va. Silgan Plastics in Ligonier, and retired from Lippert Components in Goshen after five years.
He was a member of St. Martin DePorres Catholic Church in Syracuse and Wawasee Kiwanis Club in Syracuse, where he served as Lieutenant Governor of the Indiana Land of Lakes Division for Kiwanis International. He was a volunteer for the Syracuse Food Pantry, president of the Board of Directors at Lakeland Learning Center in Syracuse where he spent countless hours volunteering and served on the Board of Directors for the Syracuse Park Foundation.
He was formerly involved with Rock Solid Youth Program in Syracuse, and was very instrumental in the fund raising for the Harold Schrock Youth Sports Complex in Syracuse. He received the Philanthropic Award in 2010 and the Outstanding Volunteerism Award in 2012 from the Syracuse Wawasee Chamber of Commerce, and was a recipient of Heart of Gold Award from the Kosciusko County Community Foundation in 2012.
He is survived by his wife: Rachel Pelletier of Syracuse; two sons: Kenneth (Donna) Pelletier of Claymont, Del.; and Scott (Chrisie) Pelletier of Goshen; six grandchildren; two brothers: David (Ruth) Pelletier; and Normand (Ann) Pelletier, both of Nashua, N.H.; and a sister: Dorris Pelletier fo Nashua, N.H.
He was preceded his parents and brother: Gerard Pelletier.
Visitation will be from 2– 4 and 6– 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at St. Martin DePorres Catholic Church, 6943 E Waco Drive, Syracuse, IN with Father Richard Hire officiating. Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd. 15, Warsaw, IN. Private burial will be at a later date in the Syracuse Cemetery with military graveside rites.
