Gretchen V. Moore
Gretchen V. Moore, 90, formerly of Ossian, died at 4:38 a.m. Friday April 1, 2016, at The Hearth at Sycamore Village, Fort Wayne where she had been a resident since March 2015.
She was born Aug. 29, 1925 in Ossian, Indiana, a daughter of the late Harry A. and Metta (Fry) King. She was raised in Ossian and graduated from Ossian High School in 1943.
On Jan. 29, 1944 she was united in marriage to Deane O. Moore. They made their home in Ossian. Mr. Moore died Dec. 18, 2012.
She was employed by Tuthill Pump, Fort Wayne.
She had the distinction of being the oldest living member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ossian. In her retirement years, she loved to play cards with her friends in Ossian and Liberty Center. She had participated in the Bluffton bowling and golf leagues and found comfort in gardening around her home.
Surviving are her children: Pamela (Rick) Sampson of Columbia City and Daniel (Paula) Moore of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers Paul, Robert and Max King and three sisters, Alice Dunlap, Wanda Mahnensmith and Alleen Kipfer.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church of Ossian, 123 S Jefferson St, Ossian. The burial will be in the Oak Lawn Cemetery, Ossian. Visitation will be from noon until the service at the church.
Preferred memorials are to the First Presbyterian Church, Ossian.
