Sprinkles Didn’t Dampen First Friday
WARSAW — A few sprinkles didn’t dampen the spirit of those attending the First Friday events tonight, Friday, April 1, downtown Warsaw.
A handful of churches came out to offer food such as nachos and cheese, hot chocolate, lemonade, hand out literature, sell T-shirts, and offer books such as the Sesquicentennial History of First United Methodist Church.
Several businesses and organizations were also on hand, including the 4-H Purdue Extension Kosciusko County; city street department offering a look at the new garbage truck and document shredding; and two political booths, both Republicans, making voters aware of candidates on the May primary ballot.
Of course there were several food vendors.
Two bands from Clunette United Methodist Church, the evening service band and morning praise team, provided old hymns to new rhythms, music from Bill Gather, and modern Christian music. Members of the evening service band included Mike Beezley, pastor; Anna Gibson; Mike Todd; and Adam Guy. Those participating in the morning praise team included Linda Harding, Chris Long, Karen and Gordon Drake.
Members of New Life Christian Church manned a chalkboard prayer wall which was filled with prayer requests by individuals completing the start of the sentence: “God I Pray:” for people with addiction, police, the homeless, families, the nation, relationships, healing in Warsaw, schools, the community and more. There were also first or last names of individuals, families and just messages.
Due to illness the rope maker and blacksmith shop were absent from the evening’s event.
