Warsaw Community School Chess Teams Compete

WARSAW — Last weekend, chess teams from Warsaw brought home five trophies at the Indiana Chess Team State Finals. The competition took place in Hammond.
In the third and under division Eisenhower placed eighth, Lincoln placed seventh and Washington placed sixth.
In the sixth and under division, Washington placed sixth. In the eighth and under division, Edgewood placed sixth.
There were a total of 31 teams in the eighth and under division; 42 in the sixth and under competition; and 54 in the third and under division.
The clubs have been led by the tutelage of Jay Bolduc at Washington and Madison; Olivia Eppley and Mel Oliver at Lincoln; Sam Wysong at Edgewood; Shirley Fleming and Henry Zehr at Eisenhower as well as numerous parent volunteers.
