Norma Jean Burns
Norma Jean Burns, 88, of Akron, went home to be with the Lord at 3:25 p.m., Sunday, March 20, 2016, at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne.
She was born on June 7, 1927 in Akron to Max and Etta (Vickery) Kuhn.
She was married on Feb. 5, 1947 in Silver Lake to Emerson E. Burns, who preceded on May 24, 1990.
She retired in 1992 from Edmonton Manufacturing (Topps) of Rochester after working there for 33 years.
She was a 1945 graduate of Akron High School. She was an active member of the Omega Church and Akron WCTU. She enjoyed her church family and church functions. She also enjoyed reading, doing Sudoku, and loved being with her family.
She is survived by her son: Randy (Rita) Burns, Akron; two daughters: Marcia (Joe) Mikel, Etna Green; and Janet (Allen) Black, Akron; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; three step grandchildren; and six step great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother: Neil Kuhn; and a daughter: Carolyn Bauman.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 24 at Hartzler Funeral Home in Akron with Pastor Thad Stewart officiating. The burial will take place at Akron Cemetery. Visitation hours are from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 23 at Hartzler.
