Don’t Miss Out, Mark Your Calendars
KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — Don’t miss out on events that provide fun for those attending while raising funds to help those in the county financially during their cancer diagnosis battle. The fundraising committee for the Cancer Care Fund of Kosciusko County is announcing the schedule of fundraising events for 2016 can mark calendars and not miss out.
Jeff Wells, committee chairman, announced in 2015, over $130,000 was paid out to 99 clients. “The more that is raised, the more which can be given away,” he stated. Wells reminded residents the fund is available to all residents of the county and “there are many who are not utilizing the fund. It’s there and available.”
Enjoy an evening May 21 with the “Black & White” Evening of Elegance Fashion Show, at the Oakwood Resort Events Center. Satori and Glam will be the boutique headliners, featuring fashions in resort, cocktail and summer. (Take a look at last year’s event: CCF Fashion Show A Success)
“Cocktails for Cancer” an outdoor celebration at the Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation Pavilion on SR 13, Syracuse, is set for June 18. Come by boat or car and take the opportunity to see the WACF Educational Facility while enjoying cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. The evening will include a silent and live auction. The new Dinner Dance and Auction will be held Saturday, Sept. 10, at Tippecanoe Lake Country Club. The evening will include cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and dinner. There will be numerous silent auction and live auctions to place bids and purchase. The evening will conclude with a dance. (Read about last year’s event at: Giving Spirit ‘Unmasked’ At CCS Event)
The annual Steve Dodds Charity Golf Fund Raiser will be Monday, Sept. 12, with a team scramble format. Held at Tippecanoe Lake Country Club, this year’s event will have a new chairman: Denny Hively. The team entry fee includes golf cart, lunch, prizes and every player gets a gift bag with his/her entry.
The final event will be the Freaky 5K Family Fun Run/Walk on Oct. 29, starting at the K21 Health Pavilion, Warsaw. The race will take place on the Greenway to Pike Lake and back around behind the hospital. Awards will be given for all age groups and CCF T-Shirts for all participants. The Cancer Care Fund is made up of volunteers who raise money for the specific purpose of giving back to the community. The CCF benefits patients and families as they struggle financially during their cancer diagnosis battle All net money raised, 100 percent, goes to the fund and is administered by the K21 Health Foundation at no charge. Money for food, rent, mortgage, gas, prescriptions, hotels and travel is paid directly to the patient or family through an advocate.
A new website, www.cancercarefundkc.org, has been created for the CCF. The site provides information about all of the events with links to registration and tickets; information how to access the fund; a page for volunteer registration and a complete contact page. Help the committee help friends and neighbors in Kosciusko COunty as they battle cancer.
More details, including tickets, will soon be available from the K21 Health Foundation website, the Cancer Care Fund of Kosciusko County website. Tickets will also be available from committee members. Sponsorship will be made available for those wishing to donate.
