Clocks To Spring Forward This Weekend
WARSAW — Change is in the air and soon it will affect everybody in Kosciusko County — and most people around the world.
Daylight Saving Time begins this Sunday, March 13, and area residents are reminded to set their clocks forward one hour. While this will technically mean losing one hour of sleep, it will also mean daylight will appear to last one hour longer in the evening.
According to timeanddate.com, Daylight Saving Time actually begins at 2 a.m. the day of the time change, though many people reset them the night before. While most clocks need to be changed manually, clocks on computers, mobile phones and other devices are designed to change automatically.
For those who are not sure in which direction to change their clocks, a simple mnemonic is: “spring forward, fall back.” This means clocks should be set forward an hour in the spring and back an hour in the fall, when Daylight Saving Time ends. This year, Daylight Saving Time ends Nov. 6.
Most of Indiana is in the Eastern time zone and Kosciusko County is currently on Eastern standard time. When the time changes Sunday, the area will move to Eastern daylight time. For maps of the time zones and more information about Daylight Saving Time, click here.
