Milford Public Library News And Events
By MILFORD PUBLIC LIBRARY STAFF
MILFORD — Milford Public Library will be hosting various activities during the next week:
Preschool Winter Story Time
Don’t let your children miss out on the last week of winter story time. Join staff as we read and talk about favorite children’s author, Mo Willems, at 10:15 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, or at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 10. Staff will read “Don’t Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late,” “Piggie and Elephant: I Will Surprise My Friend,” “Let’s Say Hi to Friends Who Fly” and “Amanda and Her Alligator” all by Mo Willems. After listening to the stories, we will get creative and make some Piggie and Elephant puppets out of paper bags. When the puppets are all assembled, we get to enjoy Piggie Cookies and Pigs in a Blanket. Join us there.
Lego Crew
Lego Crew is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 12. On the second Saturday of each month, we get together and let our imaginations run wild. This program is for children ages 5 and up. We provide the Legos, you provide the creativity and imagination. Call if you have any questions about this program.
Adult Craft Night
Local crafter, Linda Greene, will show us how to make a 5-incy by 8-inch muffin basket at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 14. The class size is limited to eight people, so sign up today. The fee for the basket is $8. If there is a lot of interest, we may add a second class. The sign up sheet is available at the adult circulation desk. Pay at time of registration, and make checks payable to Linda Greene.
Family Movie Day
Join us at 2 p.m. Friday, March 25, for a family movie event in our library meeting room. The movie is 85 minutes long and rated PG. In the movie, Elliot and his other friends will reveal the truth about the Wailing Wampus Werewolf that scared Boog. This has prevented Boog from wanting to go on the annual camping trip. We will have snacks and refreshments, so bring your friends and family.
Cake Pans
Need to make a special cake for someone and you don’t have the pans you need? Come in and check out our collection of cake pans in the adult department. We have cake pans for birthdays, holidays, graduations, and more. Come in and check out our collection.
Adult Winter Reading Program
There’s still time for you to sign up for our adult winter reading program — “Exercise your Mind, Read!” The program runs through March 31. For each book you read or audio book you listen to, you can sign up to win a weekly prize from the library.
Friends of the Library
Do you have lots of books or magazines laying around the house, gathering dust? Why not donate them to the library for others to buy and read. The Friends of the Library welcomes all your donations of books, CDs, DVDs, magazines, and sheet music. Feel free to go through our collection and purchase a few things as well. Each book/cd costs 50 cents. The Friends are also selling cloth book bags for $12. Come in and purchase a bag at the circulation desk upstairs and support your local library. Ask for a Friends brochure at the circulation desks. Annual membership fees are very reasonable. Come be a part of a group that helps the library.
