NEW PARIS — Joseph Cain, 61, Syracuse, suffered a broken ankle in a one-vehicle accident this morning, Mar. 7.

The accident occurred at 5:25 a.m. on SR 15 at CR 46, New Paris.

Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department reports Cain was stopped in his 2008 Suzuki vehicle, when he pulled out into the intersection in front of a 2008 Jeep SUV driven by Patrick Appenzeller, 72, Goshen.

Cain was transported to IU Health Goshen and given a citation for failure to yield the right of way at an intersection.
