Linda Lou (Brookins) Hire
Linda Lou (Brookins) Hire, 72, New Paris, died 10 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2016, at IU Health Goshen Hospital.
She was born April 29, 1943, in Goshen to Joe L. and Marie M. (Miller) Brookins. She married Thomas W. Hire on June 23, 1963.
Surviving are her husband: Thomas, New Paris; daughters: Annette (Charles) Hochstetler, New Paris; Malinda (Timothy) Eash, Bristol; grandsons: Kenton (Katherine) Hochstetler, Brownsburg; Brooks Hochstetler, New Paris; Benjamin Eash, Bristol; Aaron Eash, Bristol; Shawn Eash, Bristol; and great-granddaughter: Eleanor Hochstetler, Brownsburg. Preceding her in death are her parents.
Graduating Salutatorian, New Paris High School 1961. From 1972-1983, Linda and her husband directed and traveled with a gospel singing group called The Reborn Delegation. The group consisted of high school young people from Living Gospel Church, Nappanee. They sang at local churches, schools, county fairs and prisons. Their message was to share the saving grace of Jesus Christ. She and her husband continued to further God’s Ministry by traveling with the Hueni Family singers as sound technicians for the past 15 years.
Linda was a member of the Living Gospel Church, Nappanee and currently was attending River Oaks Community Church, Goshen. She was a member of the Living Gospel Church Community Ladies Bible Study.
She worked in the credit department of Montgomery Ward; was Fairfield High School Attendance Secretary; Deputy Treasurer then Treasurer of Fairfield community Schools.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, Goshen. The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 7, at First Baptist Church, Goshen. Scott Tilley Fellowship Pastor at River Oaks Community Church, Goshen, Tim Eash, Pastor, New Hope Church, Sturgis, Michigan and Rev. Janet (McFall) Brown, First Mennonite Church, Nappanee will officiate. Burial will be in Whitehead Cemetery, New Paris.
