Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
10:34 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, East Defreese Road, south of EMS D17 Lane, Syracuse. Driver: Michael J. Shenefield, 50, North SR 13, Syracuse. A tree fell onto Shenefield’s vehicle while he was driving on DeFreese Road. Damage up to $5,000.
9:29 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, East SR 14 and South CR 400E, Silver Lake. Driver: Patricia L. Good, 47, Heckathorn Drive, North Manchester. A vehicle pulled out in front of her and she swerved into the ditch to avoid the collision. The other driver did not stop or come back to the scene. Damage up to $5,000.
4:34 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, West CR 900N, west of North CR 1000W, Etna Green. Driver: Neal D. Miller, 17, North 625W, Milford, cited for possession, consumption or transportation of alcohol by a minor and released to his parents. Miller’s vehicle went off the road on the south, collided with a NIPSCO utility pole. Damage up to $10,000.
8:17 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, South CR 1000W, south of West CR 500S, Mentone. Mayra E. Malagon Cervantes, 20, Nye Street, Warsaw. Cervantes complained of an abrasion to the elbow/lower arm and was checked by paramedics. Cervantes vehicle hit a patch of ice, slid off the road causing the front end to become buried in snow, which caused the vehicle to over turn. Damage up to $5,000.
4:50 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, South SR 25, north of South Bruner Road, Warsaw. Driver: Kellie A. Engle, 48, South Mishawaka Street, Akron. Hit deer. Damage up to $2,500.
3:24 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, East Winona Avenue and Lakelawn Drive, Winona Lake. Drivers: Benny D. Fitzpatrick, 29, East CR 200N, Warsaw, and Joseph D. Bumbaugh, 54, Park Avenue, Winona Lake. Fitzpatrick’s vehicle struck the police vehicle driven by Bumbaugh as he attempted to flee police. Fitzpatric complained of pain to the knee/lower leg and foot. He was arrested for resisting arrest with a motor vehicle, operating a vehicle while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident. Damage up to $10,000.
7:56 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, East CR 450N, west of North Second Place, North Webster. Driver: Zachary D Pascale, 18, East South Street North Webster. Pascale lost control on the ice covered road, went off the road rolling over and hitting a utility pole. Damage up to $10,000.
7:25 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, East CR 400S, east of South Country Club Road, Warsaw. Driver: Brian K. Berelsman, 43, South Wildwood Trail, Warsaw. Hit deer. Damage up to $2,500.
9:11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 26, South SR 25W, south of West CR 300S, Warsaw. Driver: Logan D. Brown, 17, West CR 350S, Warsaw. Brown lost control of his vehicle went off the roadway, hit a utility pole and phone box. Damage up to $5,000.
8:57 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, East Armstrong Road, west of EMS T25 Lane, Leesburg. Kaeli L. Long, 20, Harrison Court, Syracuse. Long complained of neck pain and was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Long’s vehicle approached a curve in the road when she lost control due to the gravel and was unable to make the turn. Her vehicle left the roadway, hit an unknown hard object causing the vehicle to roll. During the rollover, the vehicle also struck a mailbox. Damage up to $10,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
1:26 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, Lake City Highway, east of North CR 150W, Warsaw. Drivers: Evan B. Essig, 22, East Muirfield Road, Winona Lake, and Then H. Lam, 37, Gerald Street, State Collage, Pa. Due to tiredness and fatigue Essig’s vehicle drifted into the right lane causing his vehicle to hit the Lam vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
11:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, South Zimmer Road and West Winona Avenue, Warsaw. Drivers: Robert V. Caddy, 21, SR 26W, West Lafayette, and Nash A. Brallier, 71, North Parks Schram Road, Warsaw. Caddy disregarded a stop sign, after he was distracted and looking down, hitting the Brallier vehicle as Brallier was in the middle of the intersection. Damage up to $10,000.
8:58 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, Gilliam Drive and North Detroit Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Kasandra R. Lopez, 17, Ironwood Road, Warsaw and Danyele B. Davis, 22, South Oak Brooke Place, Warsaw. Lopez turned her vehicle in front of the Davis vehicle causing the vehicles to hit each other. Damage up to $10,000.
7:16 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, Fisher Avenue and Ranch Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Dawn R. Bradley, 44, South Southwood Drive, Warsaw, and Kaitlin R. Hopkins, 18, East CR 800S, Claypool. Bradley’s vehicle struck the back of the Hopkins vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, East Center Street, Warsaw. Driver: Mary A. Steele, 88, Robb Road, Warsaw. Steele’s vehicle struck a parked vehicle, occupied by Jane Krider, South CR 675W, Silver Lake, while turning into a parking space. Damage under $750.
12:33 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, North Parker Street, north of Lake City Highway, Warsaw. Drivers: Thomas F. Keough, 22, 18 B Road, Tippecanoe, and Bruce J. Shaffner, 58, Esplanade Street, Winona Lake. Keough’s vehicle struck the back of the Shaffner vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
11:57 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, Pine Cone Lane, east of Shell Bark Lane, Warsaw. Driver; Richard Starzyk, 33, EMS B51 Lane, Warsaw. Starzyk backed his vehicle from a driveway and backed into a parked vehicle, registered to Andrew D. Mitchell, Pine Cone Lane, Warsaw. Damage up to $2,500.
8:49 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, South Detroit Street, south of East Jefferson Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Abbey R. Hartwiger 19, East High Circle Drive, Warsaw, and Ben L. Bradway, 69, East 225S, Warsaw. Hartwiger’s vehicle struck the back of the Bradway vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
7:17 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, Lake City Highway, Warsaw. Owner: Shelly J. Goshert, South SR 15, Warsaw. Goshert’s vehicle had been struck by a vehicle, which had left the scene. Damage up to $2,500.
