INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis-based NICO Corp. says it is planning to double its work force. The neurosurgery medical device recently completed a $15 million round of funding and says it will add about 40 jobs over the next five years.

Earlier this week, NICO announced it had wrapped up a $15 million round of funding, led by River Cities Capital Funds and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. In addition to the additional staff, the company said the investment will help expand its footprint outside of North America.

NICO expects about 40 percent of the new positions to be filled by people living in central Indiana. The company says its local manufacturing partners will likely need additional staffing as well, thanks to its projected growth.
