Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accident:
4:17 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, North CR 800W, north of West CR 300N, Atwood. Driver: Richardo A. Mendoza, 28, Oak Brook Place, Warsaw. Mendoza lost control of his vehicle, went into a ditch coming to rest in the water. He was arrested for operator never licensed. Damage up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
9:14 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, Lake City Highway, east of Meijer Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Alene Mila, 22, Maple Avenue, Ottumwa, Iowa. Mila stated she became nervous and drove off the roadway hitting a large snow pile and then went into a snow embankment. Damage up to $2,500.
11:14 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, East Center Street, Warsaw. Charles A. Patterson, with Comcast Cable Company, North Hickory Road, South Bend, notified police he parked the vehicle in the parking lot of Wyndham Gardens on Feb. 24, when he walked out to his vehicle noticed damage to the rear of his vehicle. Other driver unknown. Damage up to $5,000.
9:42 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, Lake City Highway, west of Anchorage Road, Warsaw. Driver: David Lopez, 48, West 24th, Chicago, Ill.. Lopez was eastbound in a semitractor when he observed the traffic light at Lake City and Anchorage change to yellow then red. He attempted to stop but was unable to do so due to a shift in the cargo he was hauling. He jackknifed the semitractor to avoid going through the intersection. The fuel tanks ruptured causing a fuel spill. Damage up to $5,000.
