WNIT To Air Encore Presentation On Hesburgh
SOUTH BEND — WNIT Public Television will air an encore presentation of “Requiem for a Legend: Rev. Theodore M. Hesburgh, C.S.C.” at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, with a repeat airing at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, on the one-year anniversary of his passing of this Michiana and world legend.
“Requiem for a Legend: Rev. Theodore M. Hesburgh, C.S.C.” is a 30-minute tribute to the late University of Notre Dame president that first aired on all six South Bend-area television stations on March 20, 2015.
It also aired in Indianapolis, Tulsa, New Orleans, Hawaii, Colorado Springs, the Middle East and via satellite to 22 million viewers worldwide.
Hesburgh was Notre Dame’s president for 35 years and was a seminal figure in higher education, the Catholic Church and national and international affairs throughout the second half of the 20th century. He died Feb. 26, 2015 at age 97.
The program provides a look into the life and work of Father Hesburgh from his childhood until his death. It includes rare footage and photos of him and other notable figures from the U.S. and around the world, including reference to or testimony from Presidents Dwight Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama
