Wanemacher, Heckaman Headline All-HNAC Awards
BOURBON – Riding an undefeated season in the inaugural Hoosier North Athletic Conference, Triton’s girls basketball program was bestowed several awards among the All-HNAC teams announced Wednesday.
Sophomore Hannah Wanemacher was voted co-Player of the Year along with Knox’s Hannah Coad. Wanemacher, who made a colossal leap from year one to two, finished the year scoring 14 points per contest, hitting 40 threes and shooting 77 percent from the free throw line.
Wanemacher was voted to the HNAC First Team with teammate Jaela Meister and was joined by Second Team selection Quinn Downing.
Nicole Sechrist and Charlotte Morris of Triton were chosen as Honorable Mention All-HNAC.
Triton head coach Adam Heckaman was voted the conference’s first Coach of the Year, guiding Triton to an 8-0 league record. Triton took command of the conference race Jan. 12 with a ten-point win at home over Winamac and closed the conference championship with a seven-point win at North Judson in the final game of the regular season. Both Winamac and North Judson finished 6-2 in HNAC play.
