North Webster Council To Light Up The Town
NORTH WEBSTER — It was almost a record setter for brevity. But the North Webster Town Council meeting missed it by a couple of minutes. It was held Tuesday evening, Feb. 16, at the North Webster Community Center.
The main topic of discussion was Christmas lights brought up by Severn Trent Utility Manager Mike Noe. He has recently returned from a conference in Houston and one of the topics was town beautification.
He suggested starting now to set up a fund to use in a year or two to replace the current holiday lights, as well as talking with the North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce about working together on the project. Town Council President Jon Sroufe said, “Pursue the options and get back to us.”
Noe will meet with the sewer project engineers Triad Associates and the general contractor Crosby and Sons to discuss money saving measures Friday, Feb. 19.
Police Chief Greg Church reported 171 calls of service during January with citizen assists, traffic related and agency assists being the most frequent. Officers worked 655.25 hours, drove 3,491 miles and used 323.3 gallons of fuel. The new police car will be ready for use in a couple of weeks.
North Webster Park Board will hold its first meeting of the year 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at Dixie Haven Resort, 338 E. Himes St.
Without further items to discuss or act on the meeting ended. The next regularly scheduled town council meeting will be 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, in the party room at the North Webster Community Center, 301 N. Main St.
