WCHS Band Receives High Ratings At ISSMA Contest
WARSAW — Members of the Warsaw Community High School Band received numerous high ratings during the ISSMA District Solo and Ensemble contest held Saturday, Jan. 30, at Carroll High School in Fort Wayne. In all, Warsaw collected 18 Gold (superior) ratings and three Silver (good) ratings.
Eleven solos and four ensembles qualified for state solo and ensemble contest held at North Central High School in Indianapolis on Feb. 27.
Soloists earning a Gold rating and qualifying for State were:
Samuel Bolduc (trombone), Katharine Engler (flute), Jannalynn Niebbia (flute), Sara Perkins (alto saxophone), Martha Robinson (two solos – piccolo and flute), Kole Smith (trumpet), Jacob Snider (tuba), Paige Spratt (French horn) and Lindsey Wolfe (two solos – flute and alto flute).
Ensembles earning Gold and qualifying for State were: The Flute Quartet, Saxophone Choir, Percussion Quintet and Large Percussion Ensemble. Other soloists earning Gold include: Connor O’Hara, Carly O’Hara and Renee Engler. Ensembles earning Silver ratings: The Trumpet Trio, Brass Quintet and Low Brass Quartet.
