Up Arrows For Trojan Hoops
LAKEVILLE – For at least a year, Triton will stand tall as the kings of the Bi-County after the Trojans knocked off LaVille, 49-25, Saturday night in the championship of the 51st edition of the week-long tournament.
The Trojans, which have won five of its last six games, took over in the second half. Only leading 21-16 at the break, Triton used a 15-2 run in the second half, helping pile up a 16-5 third quarter run and 12-4 finish in the fourth.
Tournament MVP Jordan Anderson led the Trojans (10-5) with 14 points and two steals. Jarrett Kreft and Masen Yeo each scored 10 points. The Trojans as a club shot 57 percent in the game (17-30) and held the Lancers to just a 23 percent clip (7-30).
Adam Steinke managed nine points for LaVille (9-6), but the Lancers committed 15 turnovers which led to 18 Triton points. Triton only turned the ball over eight times in the game.
In the girls championship game Saturday evening, Oregon-Davis maintained its tremendous scoring penchant by clobbering John Glenn 75-45. O-D, ranked No. 1 in Class 2-A, averaged 83 points per game in its three tournament appearances, right on its season average of 83 points per game. The Bobcats are 19-2 this season. John Glenn, which lost to O-D by 39 on Jan. 12, fall to 15-7 overall.
Triton will get back at it next Saturday when North Judson comes calling for a Hoosier North Athletic Conference game. LaVille will play again Tuesday at Rochester.
