Hoops Wrap – Jan. 21
Several basketball programs took the court Thursday in freshman and middle school action.
The Warsaw freshman boys hoops squad had no trouble moving to 13-1 on the season with a 46-26 win over Concord. The Tigers gave up just three points in the first half, taking a 26-point lead to the break. Nolan Groninger paced Warsaw with 14 points and Trevor Rumple came through with eight points.
Wawasee’s freshman boys basketball team picked up a win in the conference with a 49-33 win over visiting Plymouth. Aaron Evans led the way for the Warriors (6-8) with 16 points and Marshall Miller chipped in 10 points.
Wawasee also got the win in girls basketball at the freshman level with a 38-30 victory at home against Plymouth. Faith Swihart paced the winners with 11 points with Caitlin Wortinger and Casey Schroeder tossing in seven points each.
The Edgewood eighth grade boys basketball team continued its roll with a 54-22 win at Milford. Connor Lennox stepped up to lead Edgewood with 10 points. Drew Yeager and Jaylen Coon each scored nine points and Keagan Larsh had eight points for the victors. Hardy was listed with eight points for Milford.
