Graduation Rate For 2015 Released
SYRACUSE — Indiana Department of Education released high school graduation rates for 2015 publicly.
Wawasee High School’s reported waiver graduation rate is 89.6 percent, or 199 out of 222 students. The non-waiver graduation rate is 86.5 percent (192 graduates).
Mike Schmidt, principal of WHS, said the reported graduation rate will be contested eventually. He did not cite any specific numbers of students he believes the state has not reported correctly, saying the administrative team is still “working through the data.”
The 89.6 percent graduation rate falls just short of the minimum of 90 percent of students Wawasee has set as a goal to graduate each year.
Statewide, IDOE reported the waiver graduation rate has risen by more than 10 percent during the last nine years from 78.4 percent to 88.9 percent.
