Tigers Hang With Knights In Opener
WARSAW – The open of the season wasn’t too shabby for the Warsaw gymnastics team. With just four gymnasts on the card, Warsaw still rolled up an 89.975 to compete with East Noble’s 97.05 Tuesday at Warsaw’s gymnastics facility on the east side of town.
Hayley Campbell had the lone top score for the Tigers, taking a first on floor with an 8.475. Remi Beckham was the second-best vault of the night with an 8.6.
Beckham was also fourth on bars (7.475), beam (7.2) and floor (8.175). Campbell was fourth on vault (8.2) and sixth on beam (6.3). Anna Wainscott finished fifth on beam at 6.7. Nadiya Burritt also competed for Warsaw, her top score a 7.7 on vault.
Beckham had an all-around score of 31.45, good for third overall, and Campbell was fifth at 29.7.
East Noble was led by Maddie Fortman, who was tops on vault (8.7) and beam (7.9), and Brianna Glass, who scored 8.075 for honors on bars. Elizabeth Molen pasted together a 32.325 to claim the all-around blue ribbon, Fortman just back at 31.55.
Warsaw will next compete in the Plymouth Invite this Saturday, events beginning at 11 a.m.
