Roy Conley
Roy Conley, 76, of Columbia City, died at 12:25 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, at Miller’s at Oak Pointe where he had been a resident since Sept. 2015.
He was born May 5, 1939 in Gunlock, Ky., a son of George and Peggy (Hale) Conley. He completed his education in Swampton, Ky. then moving to Ohio. In 1959 he moved to the Larwill. On May 14, 1979 he was united in marriage to Sharon S. (Baxter) Grable. They made their home in Pierceton, Whitley and Kosciusko Counties until moving to Columbia City in 1996.
He was employed at PTG Dana Corp in Columbia City from May 1990 until 2001. His church membership was with Freewill Baptist Church.
Surviving relatives include wife: Sharon; two sons: George J. Conley, Warsaw; and Steven S. (Jennifer) Grable, Tri Lakes; two stepsons: Lee W. (Carol) Grable, Fort Wayne; and Timothy E. (MiYoung) Grable, Columbia City; a stepdaughter: June James, Auburn; two grandsons; 13 step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and a sister: Minervia Jean Vanderpool Shell, Ky. In additions to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepdaughter: Jill Denney; a step-granddaughter; six brothers and four sisters: Luther Conley; Add Conley; Lawrence Conley; Loy Conley; Arthur Conley; Arvil Conley; Celestia Bailey; Clara Mullins; Myrtle Conley; and Nora Howard.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester. The visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, at the funeral home.
