Virginia M. Phelps
Virginia M. Phelps, 87, of Plymouth, passed away at 9:40 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, in Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home, Plymouth.
Virginia was born the daughter of Banks and Vera (Murphy) Burden at Plymouth, April 17, 1928. She had been a lifelong resident. She was a homemaker; worked at Sweringins Shoe store and at Miller’s Super Value in the deli. She was faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
On Feb. 14, 1947, she married Elmo “Bud” Phelps in Marshall County. He survives along with three daughters: Sandra M. (Jim) Manuwal, Argos; Jackie A. (Dave) Wright, Plymouth; Karla Sue (Terry) Bellmer, Argos; and son-in-law: Richard Larson, Dayton, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; and her brother: Larry (Francis) Burden, Plymouth.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter: Vicki Larson.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, at a memorial visitation in Van Gilder Funeral Home 300 W. Madison St. Plymouth. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, in the funeral home with a visitation for one hour before the services. Pastor Mark Need of Trinity United Methodist church will officiate.
The family requests any memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 922 E. Colfax Ave., South Bend, IN 46617 in her memory.
