Kosciusko Under Winter Weather Advisory This Weekend
UPDATE: The winter weather advisory is, as of 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, now for midnight to 7 p.m. Sunday Jan. 10, for Kosciusko County. Snowfall estimates are now being reported as 1-3 inches.
NORTHERN INDIANA — A winter weather advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, for Kosciusko and surrounding counties.
According to the National Weather Service, total snowfall accumulations of 2-5 inches are expected tonight through Sunday morning.
Northwest winds will increase tonight to 15-25 mph with gusts to 30 mph at times after midnight. Winds will remain strong on Sunday. The snow will initially be wet and heavy tonight. Blowing and drifting will likely begin after midnight and continue Sunday.
Temperatures will fall below freezing tonight with wind chills dropping into the teens. Wet and snow covered roads will quickly freeze.
The NWS warns snow and ice covered roads will create hazardous travel conditions and reduced visibilities due to blowing snow are anticipated. Power outages are possible due to the combination of heavy snow and strong winds late Saturday night and Sunday morning.
