Graceland Celebrates The King’s 81st Birthday
MEMPHIS, TENN. — Thousands of fans with a “Burning Love” for The King will gather at his home in Memphis for the musical icon’s 81st birthday.
A cake-cutting ceremony is scheduled Friday morning. Guest speakers will include Glenn Derringer who, as an 11-year-old pianist, appeared on the Dorsey Brothers Show with Presley in March 1956. Also speaking will be June Juanico, who dated Elvis.
An auction of Elvis Presley memorabilia was hosted on Thursday. Among the 126 authenticated artifacts up for sale was a guitar Presley played during the “Aloha from Hawaii” concert in 1973. Elvis Presley was born Jan. 8, 1935, in Tupelo, Mississippi. He moved to Memphis with his parents at age 13. He died Aug. 16, 1977 in Memphis at age 4
